If you have never heard of Dan Rivera then you are probably not from the U.S or are not one of the gulliable rubes people like Rivera aim their schlock at. Mr Rivera was part of the paranormal investigation industry that was kicked into high gear by those old snake oil salespeope Ed and Lorraine Warren. Unfortunately Dan Rivera has died in his hotel room at the young age of 54, and we extend our condolences to the Rivera family. As of writing there is no cause of death officially released, and we are not going to speculate.

Now why is Dan Rivera's death news here at ScaryM? Dan Rivera was touring with the Annabelle doll and of course the conspiracy theories are running rampant, Annabelle being cursed leading the pack. For those who haven't dipped their toes into the Conjuring Universe, which has created a thousand and one instant paranormal experts that let's just say are making videos for hits on social network sites, the doll was considered as “demonically possessed” by Lorraine Warren. So hey what could possibly go wrong, well Annabelle being proved to be a hoax would have been my first guess.

Naturally Chris McKinnell, the grandson of the Warrens, has weighed in on the tour by claiming “there is negative energy attached to it, and it can be deadly“, continuing the grift around Annabelle. The question immediatly comes to mind is if the doll is deadly then why is it on tour and not locked away in the vaults of the Warren insane asylum of snake oil production? Money immediately comes to mind, Annabelle is all the rage at the moment among the rubes, so naturally every possible dollar is being squeezed out of their collective pockets.

Naturally with Annabelle loosely tied to a death people are already out to make a buck out of the whole thing. Disgusting arseholes would be my take on these people, but hey there are rubes out there to be milked for cash. Expect a movie in the next year or so, Hollywood no longer has anything like morals folks, but is perfectly happy to lecture people on that subject.
