Developments on the next Evil Dead flick

Sebastien Vanicek has confirmed that the next instalment in the Evil Dead franchise is slated for a 2026 release under the working title Evil Dead Burn. Vanicke and Florent Bernard have been hard at work on the script, based off previous movies in the franchise. So fingers crossed this doesn't mean expanding or getting away from series basics and mythos.
Currently we know nothing about the script or in what direction Vanicek is planning to take things, but hold onto your linen the French director is promising the new movie will be nasty, with audiences coming away from the movie feeling tested. Be still my beating heart kids. Hopefully this doesn't mean we are going to get a gore feast with characters making stupid decisions and simply blood splatter for the sake of splatter
From French website konbini.com, “I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”
Let's hope Vanicek sticks with the dark genre, as his previous movie Infested was quite the ride with some stunning sequences. Bernard also worked on this one. Okay it had some problems, but I was checking the walls around me as I watched the arachnid mayhem unfold.
Evil Dead Burn will follow up on Lee Cronin's Evil Dead Rise, which was released in 2023 to solid success. A seventh as yet unamed movie is also in the works, and will be written and directed by Francis Galluppi. As of writing there is next to nothing know about this movie. But hey we are clearly in the midst of an unfolding franchise, wonder if we will get an overall direction to the movies?
I like what is happening with the franchise, as opposed to say Alien, different Directors and Writers are being assigned to each movie, to avoid the sort of stuff Alvarez threw on the screen in Romulus. I'm willing to bet the Evil Dead franchise is going to remain fresh with the approach being adopted.
